Most of the hotels in the Garda area have an enormous wealth of history, tradition and culture difficult to replace with modern installations that might considerably spoil it. For this reason, one of our main objectives is to modernize historical structures without radically changing their nature and the same time enhance the image of the territory and preserve its historical importance.
A perfect example is the Grand Hotel Gardone Riviera. Built in 1884, this beautiful luxury hotel is located at about 1 km from the Vittoriale degli Italiani and is one of the focal points of the Garda hotel landscape. Born out of an idea of the Austrian Luigi Wimmer, who in 1875 moved to Gardone for medical reasons and fell in love with the place, the building soon became a destination for noble families and intellectuals from all over Europe and has still rooms and facades dating back to the nineteenth century and the Art Deco period.
Despite the important restoration works we carried out, the underlying theme has been maintaining intact the historical and artistic aspect of the building, aware of how important is the presence of such a structure for the area. Our main drive was or passion for and curiosity about history. Quoting Giuseppe Tomasi’s novel The Leopard "If we want everything to remain as it is, everything must change".
